I copy and paisted a post from the shocker on the NWW

I signed up at the last DNR meeting and just got this today. I have to work Saturday or I would be there. Anyone else up for helping DNR with trail planning input? The Restoration one was interesting and this one should be insightful as well I would imagine. You just have to RSVP as the message states if you want to go.

Subject: Reiter Foothills Forest Motorized Trails Field Day February 20

Thank you for your interest helping plan and develop motorized trails at Reiter Foothills Forest. Our records show that you signed up to attend a Motorized Trails Field Day scheduled for this Saturday, February 20. Here are the details:

RSVP by February 18: First, please confirm that you will attend the field day by emailing us at reiterfoothills@dnr.wa.gov or leave a message @ 360-708-0300 no later than noon on Thursday, February 18. Due to high interest in this field day, we may not be able to guarantee you a spot in a vehicle if you do not RSVP.

Transportation: DNR-provided transportation is limited, so please be prepared to car pool to points of interest if possible. We will travel on gravel forest roads, so SUV-type vehicles are appropriate. We will not be traveling in vehicles off-road.

Date: Saturday, February 20

Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Place: Meet at the large gravel parking area off of Reiter Road, just west of the gated road to May Creek. There are many ecology blocks along the road in this area and a large Reiter Foothills Forest Sign. Look for the DNR meeting sign visible from Reiter Road*.

*If you are unfamiliar with this location please contact Stan Kurowski @ 360-708-0300 for more detailed directions

Agenda: We will travel to different locations along the Deer Creek Flats Mainline Road to visit and discuss different motorized trail features and technical use areas. We will be taking short (½-1 mile) walks through the woods at different locations.

Please bring: Lunch, water, rain gear, boots, or other footgear for walking in muddy and wet conditions. Be prepared for any and all field conditions and weather. There are no facilities (such as restrooms) in this area.

FYI: For updates on work parties and progress at Reiter Foothills Forest, sign up to be on our Reiter Foothills email contact list. Send an email to Reiterfoothills@dnr.wa.gov and write “Subscribe” in the subject line.

Thanks again for you interest in Reiter Foothills. We hope to see you this Saturday.

Well I hope there is a good turn out of people for this. At least better then the last one for Restoration.

I did not sign up as I can not walk the distance they will be walking, but even if I had I would have to cancel as my old boss of 30 years passed away and I will be going to services for him on the 20th. But I may stop in at the start up gathering to say hi and good hunting to the people that show.

I did
I hooked up with the team that went out and GPS streams. What was I thinking. I thought I learned my lesson last time what it was like to walk the creeks
So I walked zone 2 and mapped all of the water. Zone 2 is the rock garden area. from the discussion that I had with them, This will be the first step in getting the plan done, Is marking all of the water
there was talk of getting a small group of people together and having a GPS class on how to use the DNR gps units, Then we could cover ground a lot quicker mapping the areas. Any one intrested in this please contact me
I didn't hang with the other group and see what happened with them

Hi All:

I attended, as well as Charlie, Rick, Neil, and a newer member - Jason (?) maybe. (sorry dude! I'm terrible with names!! :( )

Sounds like the DNR are shooting for a "limited re-opening" of Reiter later this year, with the Rock Garden being the initial offering.

They took us to the different areas to find out about existing trails and user wants/needs. Reps from the trail designing firm were present.

From the DNR there were involved several folks, including Stan K., but I don't remember the other people's names.

Rick, I hope you've been up for 24 hours b/c you were replacing that T400 in your K5! :D

Regards,

Alan

So who all went?

I was there for the start up and watched them caravan out.

Others there were Money Mark, Binder, Alan, Boxboy, 4xrick, The Shocker, three people from Gold Bar Nature Trails, Couple Bike guys and one Hiker that I have seen before, and a ton of DNR People, plus others I did not know.

Nice turn out and I think all user groups except maybe BackCountry Horsemen were represented.
