Too bad they didn't mention the current volunteers.

Maybe a letter to the editor from RTW is in order?

Hi All:

Have you guys seen the two "comments" posted so far?

Neither are helpful to our (ORV) camp.

Yes, I agree that Herald article should have mentioned RTW since they mentioned the Gold Bar Nature Trails as an involved organization.

Regards,

Alan

Has anyone submitted a letter to the editor yet?
If not, gotta do it now or will be too late to get printed.

I'd do it for you but:

1. You know the situation better than I do.
2. The Herald has already printed two of my letters in the last few months and they don't like to keep printing the same persons stuff all the time.

First thanks Tod for the comments, but I think that this war of who is at fault and who is killing the environment is not one to solve by someone that is hiding behind their keyboard. This is going to have to be done on facts, Documentation and science. The problem is, the closer that you get the city, the faster the internet is, so the more pictures of wilderness you can see, that most of the time someone drove out into the wilderness part of the way to get that picture.
Until we all pull together, all outdoor enthusiast, and get the government to stop taking our rights away to public access land, we are screwed….. They are slowly closing down more and more land to access. And the scary part is that a lot of people don’t even know what is going on
Until we can change governments mind that outdoor activities are good for all, they will keep cutting the budgets and more forest areas will be closed
We lost a couple million acres last year to gates off Hwy 2. And some of the most beautiful country, that now you can’t even drive to the trail head.

The level of ignorance amungst the masses, especially city folks is amazing.

A study done a few years ago found that over half of the people thought that they have been into a Wilderness Area in the past year, but truth turned out to be closer to one percent.

Combine that level of ingorance with the people that believe that must of the planet should be "re-wilded" with human access banned and government bureauocrats that embrace an attitude that public land is much easier without public involvement or access and we really have our work cut out for us.

I don’t think Ignorance is the right work, I think uninformed. The masses are uninformed of what they are deciding on. Lack of accurate information is letting them make uninformed decisions
It’s back to the media and what people want to hear. It is easier to blame others than take responsibility for your own actions

Maybe some find the term offensive, but I believe it applies directly to a lack of knowledge. In this application, "misinformed" may be a better synonym than "uninformed".

Too bad I actually submitted this before the article about volunteers.
You folks should still let the Herald know how much work you do at Reiter.
