It will be a difficult to keep trails that put silt into fish bearing streams open.

Yup!.....Keep out of streams and wet lands is on the sign at the main parking lot entrance. I don't know of a single trail that could be run with the given rules...:(

I was discussing via either e-mail or PM the future of reiter. If it were to become a true DNR managed ORV park, the trails that would probably be closed.

Nothing more. I'm not an environmental scientist. I just know that where water crosses or runs down a 4wd trail, it must be stopped or barred. I did cite all the work we did at elbe on various trails somewhere in the exchange of info. The DNR doesn't like erosion and water causes erosion. ORV use doesn't help.

I simply stated the trails that I thought will be under the microscope come the time when they are under the microscope.

how would this effect BYS? Wouldn't it effect the tree maze, and Isabel as well?

Most of izzy is not on DNR property, much like Sac-up by the looks of the map.

Is there water running down these trails? Think about it, they will all be effected to at least some extent.

i believe the state description of a wetland has a bunch of words but pretty much means cattails. if there are not cattails present it is considered something else besides wetlands.

swampy area with standing water so much percentage of the time and a whole lot of other qualifiers. you can have wetlands on your own property and some people dont even know it. in fact the "hillside" between I5 and my house has wetlands. because there are underground springs involved. cattails live there.

there would definately be changes and id be worried about the entire tree maze area.

crossing a stream and trail and stream being one are a lot different.

from what i have seen any water running down a trail would have to be dealt with one way or another. reroute one.

this is just from what ive read and seen at work in other government controlled areas.

thats where i can see RTW being an asset is by looking for chances to do things like reroute a spring to save a trail being closed. providing the manpower and organization, maybe lunch.

the other area is see to broker a deal if possible get to build a new trail for each trail lost or at least press for those type issues as things move along.....
