What exactly is your question? Are you asking for predictions for the future of Reiter?

Global warming is going to turn Reiter into a desert waste land?

not worth guessing because the state is involved?

Actually, this was addressed more towards the RTW org.
As the DNR is now involved, changed the name, and the multi-user representation has not come to life here in the RTW as planned. Meeting attendance seems to be dropping off as well.
I'm trying to figure out what purpose the RTW is now serving? Especially since the DNR will not veiw the RTW any differently than any other org/club that uses Reiter. We have already witnessed the lack of communication with the DNR in regards to the name change so what's next?

I was thinking about this very thing a couple days ago as a matter of fact.
RTW has never been able to cross the user boundaries. With the DNR involved, crossing those boundries may be a useless endeavor anyway. Perhaps we (RTW) should seek to become the 4X4 representative that the DNR is looking for.

I ride quads. I used to ride single-track too. I actually came to a couple of RTW meetings some time ago and was happy to hear that there was an initiative to bring other user groups into RTW, but I stopped going to the meetings because there wasn't anything useful for me being discussed, other than the "common good" stuff.
I guess it's a chicken and egg issue. How do you attract more users from other recreational groups if you don't discuss things that are relevant to them? On the other hand, if you don't have many members from those groups, nobody can expect you to spend a lot of time discussing things that are relevant to other groups.
I suppose the only way I can see to cross over is if a significant number of people in the 4x4 group with friends/family members who were in the other groups got those others to start participating, and got them to stick around through the parts that aren't interesting to them for the sake of being there with friends/family. Eventually you could start integrating more evenly, but it would be a slow process.
However, the "is it worth it" or "is it even a good idea" question is a good one. One school of thought is "unite or die". Another is "focus on your core strengths". If you started pushing for changes in more than one group area, would your message or your clout (for lack of a better word) be weakened?
I don't know the answers.

Oh, and just to put this out there:
I was interested in helping with the mapping project. Have GPS, will travel. I spoke up about it at the meeting, sent a PM or two, but nobody followed up with me.
I was (and still am) interested in things like helping to make bridges, repair trails, etc. Not a lot I can do with my ATVs as far as hauling logs around, but I'm handy with tools and home improvement projects, so I ought to be able to do something.
